6th Anniversary

Shad and I have been married for 6 whole years! I have to say the time has flown by. I am so grateful to have a husband like Shad. We have moved three times, bought 3 cars, had 4 close family members pass away, Brooklyn and Chandler were born, Brooklyn has had at least 11 major surgeries, Shad has been the Elders Quorum President, and is now the Young Mens President, I learned to play the organ, Shad has worked for 4 companies (3 of which have declared bankruptcy), we both graduated from BYU, we bought our first house, we have been to Puerto Rico, Arizona, Lake Powell, Texas, South Dakota, Washington, Idaho, & Georgia, landscaped our backyard, had 3 of our siblings get married, we are about to become an aunt and uncle for the first time, we have laughed, cried, played and struggled & more but through it all we have been together. Whew! We have been through a lot these last 6 years, but I couldn't have had a better partner through it all. After all we have done together Shad still loves me and brings me home 2 dozen long stem roses! (pictured above) He makes dinner ALL the time. He works hard everyday. He takes me on dates, does the laundry, vacuumes, and dusts, he is a great dad to our children. He gives everything his all. He is so talented. He took that picture of the Salt Lake Temple for us that is behind my roses and I absolutely love it. I love you Shad, and I can't wait to find out what the future holds for us in the years to come!

New Year's Resolution

So Brittany and I decided that it was time to really get in shape. Brady (brother-in-law) gave us P90X and we started our 1st week last Monday. We decided to get up at 5am everyday and workout together because it is motivating to have a workout buddy. I have to say that I have talked with a lot of people that have done this and have seen great results so I hope we see the same (I will spare you from the before pictures). We also started Weight Watchers at the same time. We have done this before and I had lost 40 pounds doing it (but gained it all back for lame reasons). My goal is to lose 65 pounds all together. I can say that after my first week of P90X I already feel better even though I am sore all over. This is workout that requires mental motivation because it is difficult but I feel like I have accomplished something great after each workout. The other motivation we have is the Wii Fit. Brittany's parents got the Wii Fit for Christmas this year so when we go over on Sundays we have to "weigh in" in front of everyone. We have made the weight-loss thing a family affair. I was embarrased when my Wii Fit guy plumped up like he was pregnant after I weighed in for the first time. Anyways, we are going to Lake Powell in June and everyone wants to look their best in a swimming suit. Good Luck to everyone with your New Year Resolutions!

Christmas Time!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Us Gifford's love Christmas Time. We put up the Tree the day after Thanksgiving. Here is Brooklyn being Vanna and showing it off. She is holding her favorite ornament (a pine cone covered in glitter from preschool). I thought I would post a couple of pics of us during the holiday season and some fun things we like to do. Decorating the tree was lots of fun and we are constantly trying to keeping Chandler from take the "balls" and throwing them.

Here is Shad and Brooklyn making Christmas Sugar Cookies! YUMMY!!
Brooklyn testing out our handiwork. Looks delicious!
Chandler wouldn't really decorate anything. He was too busy eating. It was hard to convince him that one cookie was more than enough for a boy his size. He sometimes eats as much as me or Shad at dinner!

Here is Brooklyn mailing her letter to Santa. This is her "excited Santa" face. She wrote and asked for a Ballerina Barbie, and a Pink Barbie Car. Santa of course wrote back and said he saw those exact items in his workshop. He also thankfully reminded her to be nice to her little brother Chandler. She can pretty much quote the letter word for word. Merry Christmas everyone! We hope you have enjoyed the holidays as much as we have.

Brooklyn's Surgery

So overall Brooklyn's Surgery went quite well. The surgeon was running behind, so instead of getting her in at 1:00PM it was 2:45PM. It was a LONG wait. The surgery went about 3 hours and 45 min. So that was another LONG wait for Shad and I. The surgeon told us that there may be another surgery sometime, but for now we just hope for the best. She has another stent in her ureter so that will have to be removed surgically probably in February. That surgery will be outpatient, and should only take about 30 min to remove. The pic above is me and Brooklyn getting ready for surgery. She looks happy enough to wear the Koala PJ's (she loves those things).
This is Brooklyn right after the surgery. As you can see she has some major pain killers, and the anesthesia is still wearing off. She was on a morphine drip, but as of a couple of days ago, she hasn't even needed LoraTab.

This is the Utah Grizzley Hockey team. They came and visited us. They let Brooklyn say "Hi" to the Bear and they gave her a stuffed Eeyore. She loved it. She is doing well, we will try and keep everyone posted on her progress.

Brooklyn's Kidney Update

This pic has nothing to do with her kidneys it is just a silly picture of Brooklyn with Shad's deer antlers on her head. But I thought I would update everyone that was curious about her kidneys. On Nov. 20th I took her to get an ultrasound of her kidneys to see if the stent helped her blocked ureter. We got some bad news. Our urologist at Primary Children's said that there was just as much fluid in her right kidney as before the stent was put in, so he recommended that she have major surgery on her ureters to fix it. It will be on Dec. 15th at Primary Children's. It will be a 3 hour surgery and she will have to spend at least one night in the hospital. So we ask that all our friends and family keep her in your prayers that she will be healthy enough to have surgery so that we can get it done this year since we have already met our deductible for the year. Thanks for all your continuing love and support!
